This website is dedicated to the memory of Larry G. Mitchell. Founder, National Director, Newsletter Publisher and Editor of the Classic AMX Club International, American Motorsport International and AMC World Clubs from 1974-2004.

Larry had many accomplishments and awards over those 30 years of service to the AMC hobby. During that time he received Nine Journalism Awards and was the author of two AMC books; "The Illustrated AMC Buyers Guide" and "AMC Muscle Cars". Both books were published by Motorbooks International.

In 1983 Larry nominated the AMX to the Automotive Milestone Society for the car to be recognized as a Milestone in Automotive History.

It was 1999 that he worked with Ertl to bring us the 1/18th scale diecast AMXs.

As a small business man he was a partner in Unique Motorcars, a car dealership specialising in muscle cars and classics. AMX Enterprises was his AMC parts business where he offered NOS and used AMC parts as well as engine rebuilding and AMC restoration services and had reproduction items made for the AMC hobby. He was a Nationally Certified Automobile Appraiser and operated an appraisal business.

Larry also had many interests outside of the AMC hobby. He cherished time with his buddies he met in his four years of service in the Air Force and his tour in Korat during the Viet Nam War. He enjoyed smoking cigars, astronomy, motorcycles - both street bikes and dirt bikes. Off-roading, four-wheeling and automotive photography. He had quite an extensive collection of early pocket transistor radios. The music of John Denver and comedy of George Burns were some of his favorites. He and his wife Linda enjoyed their visits to the Hawaiian Islands. They were volunteers for Best Friends Animal Society caring for cats and kittens in their home.
